Sean Martin Gives Explanation Behind the Number Change

A new number for the West Virginia defensive lineman.

When you see West Virginia defensive lineman Sean Martin take the field this year, you'll notice something different about him - his jersey number. In year's past, he's worn No. 91. This year? He's made the switch to No. 5 in honor of a late friend.

"In 2019, I lost one of my closest friends, Tony Webster. He had a brain aneurysm. So I'm doing it for my coach, his family, the town of Bluefield, and Tony to represent him in my last year," Martin said. "In high school, whoever practiced best got to wear No. 5 in games but since I played o-line and d-line I never got the chance to wear it. I asked Coach Brown if I could wear it my last season and he said yes."

Martin isn't one that typically leads with his voice, but rather with his play and actions. This tribute to his friend and teammate are all you need to know about the type of person Sean Martin is.
