Pirates Trade Former WVU Pitcher Jackson Wolf
The big lefty is returning back to where he started his pro career.
Jackson Wolf is on the move again. For the second time in his short professional career, the former West Virginia pitcher has been traded. Ironically, he's headed back to the organization that dealt him a year ago, the San Diego Padres.
On Tuesday, the Padres agreed to send minor league middle infielder Kervin Pichardo to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for Wolf.
Wolf was included in the trade last year that sent Rich Hill and Ji-Man Choi to the Padres. He did not appear in a game for the Pirates, but did make eight starts for their Double-A affiliate, the Altoona Curve. There, he allowed 17 runs on 32 hits while striking out 30 batters and walking ten across 36 innings. He finished the year with an ERA of 4.50 and a WHIP of 1.16. The expectation is that he will be optioned to Triple-A El Paso.
