USC Trojans Football: USC Offers 3-Star Senior Defender
The Trojans extended an offer to three-star edge rusher out of Georgia, Lorenzo Cowan.
Cowan has already verbally committed to play at the University of Kentucky but could change his mind before National Signing Day. Cowan had 31 tackles, eight sacks, and nine quarterback hurries across 10 games during his junior season.
The high school senior is ranked as the 67th-best edge rusher in his class. While not overly large, at 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, Cowan's speed and ability to follow the ball allow him to be effective in both the pass rush and setting the edge in the run game.
While there is a chance Cowan decides to sign with the Trojans, his Twitter appears to signal his unwavering commitment to Kentucky. Kentucky has produced talented edge rushers in the past, including Josh Allen, who has the fourth-most sacks in the NFL this season with seven.
Cowan could be hesitant to join a defense that has allowed 32.6 points per game, one of the worst rates among Power 5 programs.
Cowan could also come in and boost up this ailing unit. His edge rush ability is much-needed for a Trojans defense that allows many quarterbacks to cut them up with deep passes.
Though Cowan has not determined which school he has committed to, it might be USC that he makes his new home.
