USC Football: Trojans Freshman Welcomes New DC D'Anton Lynn

Big things are expected from the Trojans next season.

The hiring of former UCLA Bruins defensive coordinator D'Anton Lynn was a shrewd one by the USC Trojans. Not only did they make themselves better, but they weakened their arch-rival in the process as well.

Wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane welcomed Lynn to town on social media. The official Trojans football account pushed the post out more, and it's great to see players already welcoming Lynn despite it being the offseason essentially.ly

The hope is that Lynn can make a massive difference for this Trojans team going forward. He transformed the UCLA defense into one of the best in the country, and the Trojans are banking on him doing the same with them.

USC head coach Lincoln Riley gave some thoughts on bringing Lynn to town and acknowledged that he is a rising star in the game of football.

“I went into this thing with the goal of bringing in the very best here, and I feel like we’ve done that,” Riley said.

Per Ryan Kartje of The Los Angeles Times

If Lynn is able to even get this USC defense to be average, they will take it. It has held the team back the last two seasons, and Riley knew it was time to finally deal with the problem.

We have to give credit to him for actually making a change this offseason, and understanding that they couldn't keep doing more of the same. With the program heading into the Big-10 next season, USC would have been eaten alive by the more physical teams in the conference.

This new move gives them a better chance to win the National Championship going forward, and the program is very excited to see what he can do. The pressure is on this team now, but they wouldn't want it any other way.
