USC Basketball: Top Echocardiographer Breaks Down Positives of Recent Bronny James News

Signs pointing up!

Your USC men's basketball team will hopefully be welcoming incoming freshman guard Bronny James back into their active lineups following positive news about his cardiac event recovery. An official cause was found for it recently and head coach Andy Enfield confirms that they are taking care of anything he needs and are confident he'll be able to make a full recovery.

The basketball world was very happy to hear this as James had a lot of hype surrounding him coming out of high school and he was set to join a very talented backcourt at USC that already features Boogie Ellis and Isaiah Collier. The 18-year-old guard brings a whole different style to both sides of the floor and it will be exciting to see how he fits into the system.

Meagan Wasfy, top sports cardiologist from Mass General Brigham, detailed why these recent reports serve as good news for the young athlete.

"That's obviously very promising news," said Meagan Wasfy, a Mass General Brigham sports cardiologist. "You don't want sudden cardiac arrest to start with, but when there is a procedure or remedy to reduce risk if the athlete returns to sport, that's an update that creates some optimism for the future."

Wasfy does bring up a great point in that once James is back on the court, it will serve as a reminder to the entire program to make sure that there is plan in place to keep him safe.

As much attention as his name will garner, the top priority is to make sure he is comfortable out there and the risk of anything similar to this happening again are as low as possible.
