USC Basketball: Another Long-Term Assistant Coach Under Andy Enfield Leaves
USC men's basketball is parting ways with another former assistant coach following the departure of Andy Enfield to SMU last week. Eric Mobley, who has served as an assistant coach for the Trojans since 2018, announced his departure from the program.
“To my Trojan family, thank you!" Mobley said on X. "The past six seasons have included some of the best moments of my life: Three NCAA Tournament appearances, an Elite Eight appearance, coaching my sons Isaiah and Evan, and watching the rest of my players, that have become family, succeed on and off the court. USC will always hold a special place in my heart. What an incredible ride! #Fighton."
During Mobley's time with the program, he was able to coach both of his sons, Isaiah and Evan Mobley. Isaiah spent three years with the Trojans before he was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2022. Evan spent just one season with USC, and was drafted third overall by the Cavaliers in 2021.
The news comes after another member of Enfield's staff, assistant head coach Chris Capko, announced he was leaving last week. After the Trojans officially replaced Enfield with former Arkansas coach Eric Musselman, they have to turn over both their roster and staff. Along with Enfield, Mobley and Capko leaving, the team has lost several top players.
Former Trojan Kobe Johnson transferred to UCLA, Bronny James announced he's either entering the NBA Draft or transferring, and recruits Trent Perry and Liam Campbell have both decommitted from USC. The Trojans were already losing Boogie Ellis and DJ Rodman due to eligibility, and now they have several other players they will have to replace.
