Class of 2024 Guard Trent Perry Earns UCLA Men's Basketball Offer

The combo guard who plays his high school ball a few miles from Westwood has added the Bruins to his list of suitors.

The Bruins invited one of the top uncommitted class of 2024 prospects to Pauley Pavilion and he left with a scholarship offer.

Harvard Westlake (CA) combo guard Trent Perry became the latest Southern California native to earn an offer from UCLA men’s basketball, he announced Sunday afternoon on Twitter. Perry and his mom attended the Bruins’ victory over Washington State on Saturday, and the junior received an offer from Cronin following the game.

Perry has also been offered by California, Hawaii, Long Beach State, Loyola Marymount, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Portland State, Rice, Santa Clara, Stanford, USC and Vanderbilt before receiving an offer from UCLA, making the blue and gold the 13th team to reach that point with the prospect.

Perry unofficially visited Pac-12 foe Colorado on Sept. 23, but he has yet to receive an offer from coach Tad Boyle and company. USC, Santa Clara, Stanford and LMU all hosted Perry for unofficial visits last summer.

Cronin had been at Perry’s last two home games to watch both him and class of 2023 forward Brady Dunlap – a recent Notre Dame decommit – play for Harvard Westlake.

According to 247Sports, Rivals, On3 and ESPN, Perry is a four-star prospect. The 6-foot-4 guard is the No. 10 player in California, the No. 12 combo guard in the country and the No. 120 player in the his class, per the 247Sports Composite.

Perry has starred as a point guard for Harvard Westlake in his junior season and helped lead the Wolverines to a 28-1 record and a spot in the CIF Southern Section Open Division Championship Tournament. In his breakout campaign, Perry has averaged 14 points, six rebounds and six assists per game.

In addition to his dynamism on the offensive end, Perry has active hands on defense and has posted numerous multi-steal games this campaign – attributes Cronin is likely to value highly.

The Studio City native spoke to Phenom Hoop Report about his latest offer from the Bruins and said UCLA ticks a lot of his boxes.

“UCLA is a great program that has a great culture and plays against the best competition,” Perry said. “They’ve watched me for a good while now so it didn’t just take one spectacular game to get the offer. When Coach Cronin told me it was just straight to the point.”

Cronin previously recruited former Harvard Westlake guard Johnny Juzang to UCLA after the now-Utah Jazz shooting guard entered the transfer portal from Kentucky.
