Class of 2024 Athlete Davis Andrews Picks Up UCLA Football Offer

One of the top prospects from Utah is officially on the Bruins' recruiting board after coming to Westwood for an unofficial visit.

The Bruins have entered the race for one of Utah’s top uncommitted prospects.

UCLA football has become the latest program to offer American Fork High School (UT) athlete David Andrews, the class of 2024 prospect announced Monday afternoon on Twitter. Andrews was in Los Angeles for the Rivals Camp Series over the weekend, and he took an unofficial visit to Westwood while in Southern California.

Andrews has also received offers from Arizona, BYU, Cal, Colorado, Nevada, Notre Dame, San Diego State, Stanford, Tennessee, Utah, Utah State and Washington State, making UCLA the 13th school to send him an offer.

The 6-foot-2 recruit primarily plays defensive back and safety for American Fork. In 12 games last season, Andrews tallied 45 tackles, 1.0 tackles for loss, four interceptions and one fumble recovery.

The Bruins have a recent track record recruiting American Fork prospects, picking up a commitment from class of 2022 four-star tight end Carsen Ryan and hosting class of 2023 four-star edge rusher Hunter Clegg for an official visit.

Andrews is a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports, On3 and Rivals. According to the 247Sports Composite, Andrews is the No. 7 prospect in Utah, the No. 99 athlete in the country and the No. 825 player in his class.

UCLA has notably shuffled around its defensive coaching staff during the offseason, which could impact how they recruit moving forward.

D’Anton Lynn made the move from the NFL to the NCAA after replacing Bill McGovern as the Bruins’ defensive coordinator. The son of former Los Angeles Chargers head coach Anthony Lynn was most recently working as the Baltimore Ravens' safeties coach.

Kodi Whitfield, who was previously at Sacramento State, came in to be UCLA’s cornerback's coach, while Brian Norwood shifted from defensive backs coach to safeties coach. Both Whitfield and Norwood will likely be primary contacts for Andrews on the recruiting trail moving forward, although coach Chip Kelly was present at his unofficial visit.

The Bruins have two commits for their 2024 recruiting class – four-star Mater Dei (CA) defensive back Khristian Dunbar-Hawkins and three-star Eastlake (CA) offensive tackle Joshua Glanz. UCLA's two-man class currently ranks No. 41 in the country and No. 4 in the Pac-12.

As for Andrews, the prospect told 247Sports that he has practices and unofficial visits coming up at BYU, Utah, Notre Dame and Tennessee over the next month. Andrews then plans to go on official visits before making his eventual commitment.
