Five-Star LB Sammy Brown Commits to Clemson  over Tennessee and Georgia

The Tennessee Volunteers believed they set the pace for five-star linebacker Sammy Brown's official visit, but a recent trip to Clemson put the Tigers on top.

2024 five-star linebacker Sammy Brown set up five official visits with Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. He went into the process with an open mind, hoping to decide during his official visits and then committing during the first week of July. Georgia was considered the favorite entering the visits, with Clemson right alongside them. Tennessee hosted Brown during the 865 Live Event for his official visit and gained ground, but a recent visit to Clemson put the Tigers over the top as Brown committed to Clemson on Monday.

Head coach Dabo Swinney connected with Brown during the process. Clemson is known for cultivating a unique environment centered around family, similar to other programs. The difference is the way they approach recruiting; Clemson doesn't offer underclassmen and is genuine in making recruits earn things. Brown appreciates that, and they have resonated with him throughout his recruiting process. The Tigers rolled out the red carpet for Brown on the trip, keeping things centered on the people rather than a football fit. They now have a marquee commit in their 2024 class.

Brown spoke with Sports Illustrated earlier in the spring and said he wouldn't rush to any decisions. He planned to make all five official visits before committing but decided to shut down his recruitment following the Clemson visit this past weekend.
