The Athletic's CBB Midseason Article Praises Tennessee

Tennessee is one of the top teams in college basketball, and the Athletic recognized their excellence in a midseason column.

The Athletic recently released a "midseason catchup" article helping college basketball fans get up to date on this season's action.

They covered everything from national player of the year to the most underrated teams; there's something for everyone in it. The Tennessee Volunteers should be at the top when articles like this come out.

In this case, they were. The Athletic recognized the Volunteers as one of the "Power Five" teams - the top college basketball programs. Alabama, Houston, UCLA, and Purdue accompanied them.

It's hard to discount Tennessee's winning formula. Head coach Rick Barnes has his group ready no matter the circumstances, and each game, a new breakout star wills them to victory.

"The Volunteers showed in walloping Texas on Saturday just how good they can be. This might be the best defensive team Rick Barnes has ever coached, and that’s saying something." - The Athletic

The article didn't mention any specific Volunteers or have the team in any other category, but that has been the story of Tennessee's season. Individual accomplishments are overlooked, but everyone still appreciates what the Volunteers are doing and has them among college basketball's elite.
