Senior Day Determined For Vols
As the season approaches, and we enter the summer portion of the Vols offseason program, a key date was just announced for the 2023 season. The Vols announced that their Senior Day opponent would be the UConn Huskies. The Huskies were chosen among three home opponents in November at Rocky Top.
The other two November opponents at Neyland Stadium are the University of Georgia, in a game that will likely be of the highest stakes of the season for the Volunteers, and likely the Bulldogs as well, with the Vanderbilt Commodores also on the home schedule for the season's final month.
Interestingly enough, the Tennessee Volunteers have never played a football game against the Uconn Huskies. The Huskies are coming off of a 6-7 season that saw the team go 5-1 at home but only one victory on the road, where they will obviously be on November 4th. The team may not be a typical easy Senior Day opponent, however, as we saw them earn an upset victory over #19 Liberty last season in November.
As a whole against the Big East Conference, the Vols have played eight games against teams out of the American Athletic Conference, where UConn resides. Tennessee has a 7-1 record in those games, with the sole loss coming to Miami when they were a member in 2002. The most recent AAC matchup for the Vols came in 2011, a victory against Cincinnati.
As we look forward to Vols Football, we also look forward to seas of orange and white in Neyland Stadium. On Senior Day, this will be in full effect as the team prepares to honor their seniors, as well as hopefully earn a victory en route to the College Football Playoff.
