Aggie Transfer Makes On3's Top SEC Commit List in Portal Rankings

Texas A&M Aggie transfer, Nic Scourton makes On3's top SEC Commit list in transfer portal rankings.

According to On3 Industry rankings, Texas A&M has landed the top four transfer out of Purdue in edge Nic Scourton. Scourton is coming back to play for his hometown crowd of Bryan.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 280 pounds, Scourton made the decision to enter the transfer portal following a standout performance in 2023. He led the Big Ten in sacks with an impressive total of 10, demonstrating his dominance on the field.

Scourton consistently contributed, securing at least half a sack in eight out of 11 appearances and tallying 15 tackles for loss. Notably, he showcased his prowess against formidable opponents, recording two sacks against Michigan and one sack with a forced fumble against Ohio State, marking big performances against two then top-10 teams. In addition to his sack numbers, Scourton applied significant pressure to quarterbacks with a total of 42 quarterback pressures throughout the season.

In 2023, the Aggies had a successful pass rush, securing the seventh spot in the nation with a total of 42 sacks. However, linebacker Edgerrin Cooper is set to take eight of those sacks with him to the NFL.

Two key contributors to Texas A&M's effective pass rush on the defensive line, EDGE Fadil Diggs, and interior lineman Walter Nolen, have entered the transfer portal. Nolen is a loss for the Aggies as he joins Ole Miss as the No. 1 transfer on the On3 Industry rankings. Additionally, jumbo lineman McKinnley Jackson, who recorded three sacks, confirmed a couple of months ago that the 2023 season would mark his final year of college football.

Although things still look promising for the Aggies, when Mike Elko seeks immediate impact contributors, few options surpass the appeal of a top-10 transfer portal player who excels at his position.
