Former Stanford and Lions DB Stanley Wilson Jr. dead at 40
According to a report by TMZ, Stanley Wilson Jr. died while being transferred from Los Angeles County jail, to a hospital that specializes in patients with mental health issues on Feb. 1. Wilson collapsed during the intake process and eventually passed, according to the report.
Wilson was in police custody stemming from arrests last August, for reportedly breaking into a Hollywood Hills mansion twice. It was later determined that Wilson was unable to stand trial due to his mental health. His August arrests were not his only run-ins with the law, as was arrested three different times between 2016-17, twice for trying to break into a home while naked and once for roaming a Portland, Oregon, neighborhood while naked.
Wilson was drafted in the third round of the 2005 NFL Draft after a successful career at Stanford. He played three seasons with the Lions, recording 89 tackles and one forced fumble, before he suffered what turned out to be a career-ending Achilles injury.
He turned 40 years old on February 1.
