Early National Signing Day Capsule: Jalewis Solomon
It's official. Jalewis Solomon is now a South Carolina Gamecock. Words most of us never thought we would see after Solomon's commitment to Auburn in August, but the persistence of Shane Beamer and the staff prevailed. Though slated as an ATH on his recruiting profiles, Solomon has been recruited to play defensive back primarily for the Gamecocks.
Prospect: Jalewis Solomon
School: Schley County High School (Ellaville, GA)
Projected Position: Outside Corner
Size: 6'0, 185 pounds
Athleticism: Can decelerate and accelerate at a high-level, which allows him to pounce on breaks from a wide receiver and take advantage of passes that are in inaccurate or have too much air under them.
Instincts: Has elite vision when it comes to sifting through the action in the offensive backfield, which allows him to diagnose where the ball is going and either push the ballcarrier back inside or make the play himself.
Bottom Line: As a defensive back, Solomon showcases calm but quick feet to go along with great athleticism and ball skills, which when paired up with Torrian Gray's coaching could make him the next All-SEC defensive back for South Carolina.
