BREAKING: South Carolina's MBB Team Hears Their Name Called!
For the first time in seven years, South Carolina's men's basketball team is going dancing in the NCAA Tournament!
After putting together one of the best regular seasons in program history that saw the South Carolina Gamecocks tie a school record for wins in a season, play for an SEC regular season title in the final week of the regular season, and win their first SEC Tournament game since 2018, Lamont Paris' team was announced as a 6-seed in the Midwest region on Selection Sunday. The 6-seed distinction is the highest that the Gamecocks have received since the 1998 NCAA Tournament, where they were a No. 3 Seed.
For head coach Lamont Paris, this is his ninth NCAA Tournament appearance overall and the second of his coaching career when leading his own program. As far as their first-round matchup is concerned, Carolina will be taking on the Oregon Ducks, who went 23-11 on the season and earned an automatic bid by winning the Pac-12 Tournament Championship.
