Pitt Loses Starter to Transfer Portal

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have lost their starting center to the transfer portal as they get the offseason underway. 

Federiko Federiko, a starter at the five spot for most of his two seasons at Pitt, has entered the transfer portal according to Derek Murray of The Scouting Service and will look for a new home this offseason. 

A transfer from Northern Oklahoma Community College, Federiko appeared in 68 games as a Panther, starting 53, over two seasons. He averaged 5.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game and shot 65.4% from the field while playing 22.4 minutes per game. 

Federiko entered this season reprising his role as the starting center for the Panthers but was removed from the starting lineup midway through the season. As he struggled to finish around the rim, keep clean of turnovers and defend in the post, he was replaced by sophomore Guillermo Daiz Graham. The rotation eventually became a platoon with him and Diaz Graham splitting minutes and, upon occasion, combining in a double-big lineup. 

Pitt is left with just two true centers on the roster now - freshman Papa Kante and Diaz Graham. 6’9 2024 recruit Amdy Ndiaye will be added to the mix. They’ll likely look to add another player to bolster their center position through the transfer portal.
