Former Ole Miss Rebel Nick Broeker Claimed Off Waivers by Houston Texans
The Houston Texans have claimed former Ole Miss offensive lineman Nick Broeker off of waivers. Broeker was a seventh round pick for Buffalo in 2022, and is only one of five players drafted to not make the roster on Tuesday.
The 6-5, 315-pounder from Springfield, Illinois, was a three-year starter on the Rebels offensive line, playing at left tackle before switching to left guard for his final 13 games. NFL feedback made the decision to make the switch from tackle to guard an easy one.
Broeker played 50 offensive snaps and surrendered just one pressure during the preseason.
"When I was thinking about entering the draft or staying last year, a lot of my feedback was, at the next level, a lot of talk about guard and everything." Broker said when talking to the Daily Journal. "So, I think that's kind of what made me decide to switch."
Broeker, who did not miss a single game during his four years in Oxford, was a two time All-SEC and 2022 All-America pick. He finished his Ole Miss career as the winer of the 2022 Ken Hull Trophy for the best offensive lineman in the state of Mississippi.
Starting in all 13 games of his senior season, Broker did not allow a single sack all season and tallied 472 blocks. According to Pro Football Focus, Broeker graded at 100% efficiency with no sacks allowed, no hits and no pressures in three contests.
Broeker joins Kendrick Green and Josh Jones, who are also new additions to Houston's offensive line.
