Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State: Three Key Players

These three Cowboys need to have a big impact on Saturday against the Sooners.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys will look to take the final chapter in the Bedlam series for the foreseeable future when it takes on the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. inside Boone Pickens Stadium.

OSU as a whole will have to play well to have a chance to win, but these three Cowboys will have to go the extra mile against the Sooners.

Ollie Gordon

Gordon has been amazing in the previous five games, and he will have to continue that against the Sooners.

The sophomore running back has racked up five straight games with over 100 rushing yards, including two straight games with over 250 rushing yards. He is the first Cowboy player to do that since the great Barry Sanders.

Oklahoma comes into this game ranked 52nd in rushing defense and 61st in total defense. Kansas had 225 rushing yards against the Sooners, en route to a victory last Saturday. Gordon has to take advantage of a struggling Sooner defense to give OSU a chance on Saturday.

Cameron Epps

The freshman has been amazing during this four-game winning streak, securing interceptions in two of those games.

Oklahoma likes to spread it out, get people in open space and make people miss. The Sooners come in ranked sixth in scoring offense, but they have struggled with turnovers in the past two games.

Dillion Gabriel comes in with an interception in each of his last two games. Epps will be looking to make a play on Gabriel and the Sooner offense.

Nick Martin

Mike Gundy said on Monday that OU offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby is a run-first guy, and Martin is a guy who likes the run.

Martin had 12 tackles last week, bringing his total to 83 on the season for the Cowboys. Martin has recorded 55 tackles in OSU’s winning streak.

OU is ranked 33rd in rushing offense and has a slew of backs that can make you pay if you don’t get him down at the first point of contact. Martin will have to fill the gaps and tame the Sooner rushing offense on Saturday.
