WATCH: Oklahoma State Strikes First With Touchdown Against Kansas State
The Kansas State Wildcats scored on their first drive in every matchup they had played up until this matchup all season. Oklahoma State was the first team to stop them on the opening drive, and they did it while playing tough defense.
On the other side of the ball, a variety of targets and playmakers extended the drive, with some help from Alan Bowman's runs.
All season long, the Cowboys have been consistent in the red zone, but getting there has been the issue. Well, it seemed as if marching to the red zone was no challenge as Kasey Dunn called a good first drive capped off by an Ollie Gordon touchdown.
It's been sung all season, getting Gordon the ball results in big plays. It's no surprise he's the one to open this game for a touchdown. Now the pressure falls back on the Cowboys' defense that had an incredible first drive.
Sound coverage and disciplined tackles will be the name of the game. Allowing the Wildcats to get into rhythm will be a huge mistake if Oklahoma State isn't careful, but their first offensive drive was more than encouraging.
The matchup isn't an easy one for the Cowboys, but they're looking to set the tone early.
