Oklahoma State Jumps to No. 21 in the AP Poll Following Win Over Houston
A week ago, the Cowboys took a tumble in the rankings. They had climbed their way up from being unranked -- and rightfully so after a 2-2 start -- to No. 15 around the three most popular polls.
Oklahoma State's loss against UCF over a week ago had them dropped nine spots to No. 24 in the AP Top 25 Poll, which is where they were during their 43-30 win over Houston this weekend.
After a slow start to their recent matchup, which followed up a 45-3 loss, it seemed the Cowboys were on their way to being unranked. They ended up turning things around and looking like the same team that went on a five-game win streak. They didn't just come back and win, they dominated once things started to go their way.
This led to the Cowboys being ranked No. 21 in the recent AP Poll. They climbed three spots as they've got some more work to do to repair their image after a huge loss over a week ago.
The Cowboys will next take the field next Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT, which will be broadcast on ABC, as they host BYU for their season finale. This game holds some weight, as a loss essentially eliminates the Cowboys from the Big 12 Championship race.
If they win on Saturday -- and Texas wins -- those two teams will square off for the conference championship in Arlington.
Considering the slow start to the season, this would be huge for the Cowboys. It's also hard to imagine the same team that showed up in the first three weeks is the same team battling for a conference championship slot in the last week of college football.
It'll be interesting to see where the College Football Playoff committee ranks the Cowboys on Tuesday.
