Cowboys Keeping Kansas State on Upset Alert?
Heading into a Week 6 battle against the Kansas State Wildcats, the Oklahoma State Cowboys are 11.5-point underdogs for the Friday night matchup.
The oddsmakers expect the Wildcats to be able to win this game by double digits, meaning this wouldn't be much of a game. But can the Cowboys make it a game or even upset Kansas State?
Josh Pate talks about the potential of Oklahoma State upsetting the Wildcats.
"I was at this game last year in case you'd forgotten, and trust me, I've tried to," Pate said on Late Kick with Josh Pate. "48 to nothing. ...You just have to have blind faith that breaks are going to go team's way."
Pate then went on to take a look at statistics leading into this game, including Kansas State ranking low in pass defense across the Big 12.
"I don't care if [Alan Bowman] has to blindfold himself and chunk it up like Chad Kelly against Bama all those years ago," Pate said. "Just find the hands of a few receivers here. ...I have a sneaking suspicion that Oklahoma State is going to hang around in this game."
This is where the game can be won, or made close at least, by the Cowboys. Getting the ball to Brennan Presley -- who has had a slow start to the season -- will be huge. Presley has the ability to blow this game wide open while finding rhythm to finish out the rest of the Big 12 schedule.
There's also Ollie Gordon and Jaden Nixon, both of whom had a 60+ yard play in their last game, who are going to be able to thrive in space. Kansas State is going to put up plenty of points. Their run game and pass game both will find success. The Cowboys will have to put up big plays and consistent offense to stay in this game and potentially come out with the upset.
