Ohio State Buckeyes Rise in AP Top 25 After Win vs. Maryland
The Ohio State Buckeyes rose in the Associated Press's Top-25 rankings to the No. 3 spot after taking down the then-undefeated Maryland Terrapins in Columbus on Saturday.
It wasn't the prettiest win for the Buckeyes, who were locked in a tight one with the Terrapins for most of the game. But in the second half, the Buckeyes were able to pull away, putting down Maryland and moving to 5-0.
"Shooters keep shooting," Day said after Ohio State's 37-17 win. You just got to keep shooting and push through it."
The win made Ohio State coach Ryan Day 34-0 against unranked teams during his tenure in Columbus.
Day's victorious trend is the longest of any coach in college football history to begin their career since the Associated Press (AP) began publishing their top-25 poll back in 1936.
Elsewhere, the reigning two-time defending national champion, the Georgia Bulldogs, put together their best performance of the season with a 51-13 win over the now No. 24 ranked Kentucky Wildcats. While the Michigan Wolverines also remain unbeaten after a 52-10 win over Minnesota.
The Longhorns also dropped six spots from No. 3 to No. 9 after their loss to Oklahoma, with the Sooners rising to No. 5, while Florida State rose one spot.
The Buckeyes will now hit the road with their new ranking, as they head to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers.
