Four Mizzou Players Earn Spot on AP All-American Teams
The long list of honors for the 2023 Mizzou football team extended on Monday. The Associated Press revealed its 2023 All-American teams which included running back Cody Schrader (first team), cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine and wide receiver Luther Burden III (second team), along with offensive tackle Javon Foster (third team).
The honors are another representative for the transformative season Mizzou had in 2023. Last year the Tigers did not have a single player make the AP team.
Schrader led the SEC with 1,489 rushing yards on the season and also earned spots on the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and Walter-Camp (WC) All-American teams. The St. Louis native has earned plenty of recognition for his remarkable season, winning the Burlsworth trophy for the best former walk-on. He also finished eighth in voting for the Heisman trophy.
Burden was a dynamic playmaker for the Mizzou offense, compiling 1,197 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. The AP honor is the first All-American recognition for Burden so far.
Abrams-Draine put together a strong junior season to advertise himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the upcoming NFL draft class. The Mobile, Al. native has accepted an invite to the upcoming Senior Bowl after leading the Tigers with four interceptions. Abrams-Draine also earned a spot on the second-teams for both of the FWAA and WC teams.
Foster was a stall-worth for the Missouri offensive line that was a semi-finalist for the Joe Moore award for the best offensive line in college football. Foster also earned a spot on the FWAA second-team.
