It is officially Egg Bowl week in Mississippi, and tensions will run high as always. Who are some players to watch as the Bulldogs try to keep the Golden Egg in Starkville?

We'll give you three:

Shawn Preston Jr.

Preston has been the most consistent starter in the Mississippi State secondary this season. The Louisiana native is always around the ball and has forced multiple turnovers this year.

With the Bulldogs' struggles on offense this season, MSU will need to generate some points on defense or give the offense a short field. Preston has proven to be a playmaker this year, and forcing a turnover Thursday could be the difference.

Jaden Crumedy

Last year, the Bulldogs won the Egg Bowl 24-22, an outstanding performance by the MSU defense. The driving force for that performance was the defensive line for the Bulldogs.

Mississippi State will need a similar effort this year to win, starting with Crumedy. Crumedy is MSU's most explosive defensive lineman, and he needs to get some pressure on the quarterback and also be firm in the run game.

Will Rogers

Rogers returned from injury against Southern Miss, and despite the 41-20 win, Rogers did not play his best. The receivers did not do Rogers any favors as they dropped catchable balls.

However, Rogers is a Mississippi native and understands the magnitude of this game. It is no secret that he has not played well in the Egg Bowl since his freshman year, where he threw for an Egg Bowl record 440 yards.

Rogers needs to play well on Thursday. He understands how much this game means, and he needs to rise to the occasion.
