NFL Draft Analyst Mel Kiper Sets High Expectations For Mississippi State CB Emmanuel Forbes

The 2023 NFL Draft is just around the corner and one of the biggest names to watch in the early rounds is Mississippi State cornerback Emmanuel Forbes.

Mel Kiper has Emmanuel Forbes predicted as the 16th overall pick in the first round as a player who can earn All-Pro honors. Over the years, Forbes has proven himself as being a great player. His athleticism and speed has been on full display against some of the best wideouts in the nation and has managed to consistently hold his own. 

Currently, Forbes is the FBS active career leader in overall defensive touchdowns and owns the FBS career record with six pick-sixes. He has had six interceptions this past season and fourteen total career picks over the past three seasons. Since 2020 when his collegiate career began he has led in active career interceptions in the FBS and that makes him the fourth in Mississippi State football history. 

Forbes is a very ambitious player and has won several awards since his career began. In just this past season he was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week against Texas A&M, Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week, and put Second-Team All-America. 

Earlier this month, Forbes was invited to the NFL Combine where he made quite the impression. Forbes ran his 40-yard dash in 4.35 seconds and though he has a thin frame, he uses his length to his advantage as an effective recovery tool and his instincts allow for quick reactions. 

MSU has its coming up Tuesday, March 28th in Starkville, MS, and all eyes will be on Forbes and his abilities as many NFL scouts look for future cornerbacks.
