Mississippi State Women's Basketball Standout Jessika Carter in the Senior Spotlight
Jessika Carter has had many career highlights throughout her time at Mississippi State, something that's earned a lot of recognition as she plays out her senior season.
In 2020 alone, she was named to the WBCA All-Region II, WBCA All-America Team Honorable Mention, and Second Team All-SEC (coaches).
Starting off in her freshman year she was ranked 11th in the SEC in blocks per game. During the auburn game that year she was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free throw line for 14 points and six rebounds.
During the summer of 2019, she helped the USA team win the silver medal at the World University Games. In the contest against Slovakia, she posted her second double-double of the event with 10 points and 10 rebounds. That summer she ranked third in offensive rebounding and sixth in rebounding amongst all players during official games.
Moving into her, sophomore year she ranked 13th in Division I in field goal percentage. Her .585 field goal percentage ranked fourth for a single season in program history while her 287 rebounds and 60 blocks ranked ninth.
As a junior, Carter started all 19 games and was named a top 10 finalist for the Katrina McClain Award. Moving up from ranking of 13th in her sophomore year, she came in at fifth in the conference in field goal percentage and 60th in the nation. Carter posted a single-game career high as a junior with 29 points while going 12-of-16 shooting against Central Arkansas.
Over what has been nothing short of a memorable career, Carter has also been named SEC Player of the Week twice -- once back in 2019 and once during the 2022 season.
There's no question the Lady Bulldogs will have quite the void to fill in the days after Carter graduates out after having such an impact player on the court.
