Just Another Bulldog Minute: Auburn at Mississippi State Preview
The Mississippi State Bulldogs, sitting at just 2-4 in SEC play following a loss to Florida on Wednesday night, have an opportunity at home to get back on track and potentially make a run in conference play.
Auburn visits the Hump on Friday, giving an opportunity for the Bulldogs to take down another top team in the nation after doing so just two weeks ago.
Sitting at 16-3 ranked eighth in the country, the Tigers are led by a dynamic duo in the front court and a deep rotation of talent in the back court.
Leading the way in more ways than one for Bruce Pearl's team are forwards Johni Broome and Jaylin Williams.
Broome averages over 15 points per game and nearly nine rebounds while Williams trails closely with just under 13 points per game and 5.4 rebounds.
While the offense typically flows through the pair of upperclassmen, true freshman Aden Williams and Florida International transfer Denver Jones are strong threats from beyond the arc.
Both are shooting over 30% from three point range, and are first and second on the team in attempts per game.
Defensively, KD Johnson and Tre Donaldson are some of the Tigers' best. The two split time nearly evenly with Williams and Jones, but provide their own unique talents.
Johnson leads Auburn in steals per game with 1.2 and Donaldson is one of the team's best defenders with a 97.2 defensive rating this season.
The Bulldogs will certainly have their work cut out for them if they hope to pull off another upset, but a second win over a top ten team would certainly strengthen the tournament resume for Chris Jans' team
