Bryce Chance Named SEC Co-Freshman of the Week
Sophomore Mississippi State outfielder Bryce Chance was recognized as SEC Co-Freshman of the week following a solid performance in the team's opening series of the 2023 season.
Behind the plate, Chance posted a batting average of .583. Chance went 3-for-5 on the Day 1 of the series, with three RBI in his first collegiate start. Following with that he had his first collegiate home run and hit two-run blasts down right center.
All weekend, Chance remained strong behind the plate, and during the second game he picked up a career high with four RBI's, with those he had three RBI singles and a bases loaded walk.
To finish out the series Chance ended ended out Day 3 with seven hits, one home run, and a double, four scored runs and a pair of walks. This marks a strong first impression after he caught attention at the high school level at Madison-Ridgeland Academy, where he was named the High School First Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball in 2021.
On his senior year, he batted a .481 with fourteen doubles, a triple, and nine home runs with forty seven runs throughout the season.
Expect to see more from Chance as the Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday in a two-game midweek series against ULM. The first pitch is set for 4 p.m. CT at Dudy Noble Field.
