Hunter Hines Hits Notable Conference Achievement
Mississippi State baseball's Hunter Hines has been on fire as of late, leading the SEC in hits last week with a total of 10. Hines has kept a batting average of .526 with four home runs and 9 RBIs over the past five games.
Strength behind the plate is nothing new for Hines, though, as last season during his freshman year, he hit an even .300 on 63 hits and drove in the team's second-most RBI with 52. He has had a hitting streak of 12 games which was the longest of any Bulldog that entire season.
On top of this, he won six different awards. Hines was the 2022 Baseball Freshman All-American, 2022 Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Freshman All-American, 2022 Baseball America Second Team Freshman All-American, 2022 NCBWA Second Team Freshman All-American, 2022 Freshman All-SEC Team, and the 2022 ABCA/Rawlings South All-Region First Team.
This early in his career, Hines has shown he has the skill and continues to improve constantly. Over the next couple of seasons, it will be interesting to see how he grows as a player and how he can support the Bulldogs.
How he continues to progress as MSU takes on Vanderbilt on Friday at the beginning of a three-game series will be something to keep watch over.
