2025 Wide Receiver Announces Michigan State Visit
3-star wide receiver Giyahni "Geo" Kontosis announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday that he would be visiting Michigan State on Saturday.
Michigan State football has not only been busy implementing new systems in spring practice, but the program has also been working hard in the recruiting department as well.
On Friday, 3-star wide receiver Giyahni "Geo" Kontosis announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that he would be visiting Michigan State on Saturday.
Kontosis, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, will be entering his senior season at Rock Creek Christian Academy in Maryland. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver received an offer from Michigan State in January. Kontosis also has offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Oregon, Syracuse, Minnesota, Duke, Boston College, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, Toledo, Buffalo, South Carolina, Bowling Green and East Carolina, among others.
According to On3's recruiting prediction machine, the favorite to land Kontosis is Cincinnati (41.6%), followed by Maryland (24.7%).
In his junior season, Kontosis totaled 1,065 yards and 11 touchdowns on 52 receptions in just eight games.
Kontosis is ranked 80th among wide receivers in the Class of 2025, 13th overall in the state of Maryland and 515th overall nationally, per 247Sports' composite rankings.
According to Rivals, the only other scheduled visit Kontosis has yet to complete, as of now, is with Pittsburgh, which is set for June 20.
Michigan State has had some talented receiving groups in recent years, and it will be important for new Spartans coach Jonathan Smith to continue his program's success of bringing in solid receivers. He fortunately has wide receivers coach Courtney Hawkins, who has been a big part in recruiting great receivers in his previous four seasons with Michigan State.
Hawkins is behind the Spartans' recruiting of Kontosis.
In general, Coach Smith and his staff need to start landing recruits from the Class of 2025. As far as recruiting goes, the regime is off to a poor start. In order to compete in the Big Ten, MSU will have to catch up in that department, and it has a long way to go.
It is not likely that Kontosis chooses MSU, but the Spartans can only hope they leave a good impression following his visit on Saturday.
The Michigan State Spartan Football Spring Green and White Game (Spring Showcase) will be held at the High Cathedral of the Spartan Nation, Spartan Stadium, on April 20, 2024, at 2 p.m.
