Former Kentucky Wildcat Cason Wallace has struggled in the NBA preseason
The NBA season is right around the corner, which means numerous former Cats are ready to lace them up and hoop.
One former Cats is getting ready to make his NBA debut, and that would be Cason Wallace.
He was a first-round pick in the recent NBA Draft and now plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Wallace's career isn't off to a hot start, as his first two games in the preseason didn't go great then he got hurt.
In his first preseason game, Wallace scored two points in 25 minutes to go with two rebounds and assists.
Then, in his second game, he scored nine points with four assists and three rebounds, which was a better showing for the rookie guard from Kentucky.
In his third game, he got off to a hot start with five quick points but then had to leave the game with a toe injury.
I'm not concerned with the production when it comes to Wallace's career. More of the concern is how young and deep the Thunder are this season.
This team has a bunch of talented guards, both young and old, which will make it hard for Wallace to stay on the court for long if he doesn't come out of the gate hot.
The beat writers for the Thunder aren't concerned with Wallace yet, but my fear is that if he struggles early in the season, his minutes will decrease game by game.
Hopefully, Wallace will get healthy soon and have a big role in the league his rookie year.
Kentucky guards seem to always succeed in the NBA, and hopefully, that will be the case for Wallace.
