SEC Updates: Kentucky Targeting an OC, Alabama Loses one to the NFL
Georgia has seemingly put the finishing touches on its 2024 class with the addition of Stanford tight end Benjamin Yurosek and will now be turning the attention towards spring practice, but around the rest of the SEC, teams are still finalizing their coaching staffs, and, in some cases, losing coaches.
News broke on Friday that former Washington offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb, who had followed Kalen DeBoer from Seattle to Tuscaloosa to take over as Alabama's OC, had taken the Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator position, per reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter and Pete Thamel.

That leaves Alabama without an OC as we get closer to spring practices kicking off, but that's not the only bad news. A report from the Seattle Times speculated that the reason the Seahawks waited so long to announce the hire was to wait until the 30-day window for Alabama players to enter the transfer portal had passed. If true, that would put a stain on DeBoer's program before he's coached a game and you can be assured opposing coaches will be using that bit of information on the recruiting trail.
Up in Lexington, the Kentucky Wildcats are reportedly zeroing in on a new offensive coordinator. ESPN's Pete Thamel is reporting that the Wildcats are going after Boise State OC Bush Hamdan. Hamdan has coaching stops at Florida, Washington, and in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons. He was most recently in the SEC from 2020-2022, serving as Missouri's QB coach. He'll be paired with former Georgia quarterback Brock Vandagriff who transferred to Kentucky following the 2023 season.
