How Did ESPN's College GameDay Pick the Orange Bowl Between FSU Football and Georgia?
Bowl season is in the midst of its madness. The matchups between some of the non-playoff teams are being played and good games are coming from it. With this, the two first teams to be left out of the playoffs are set to square off in the Orange Bowl.
While the Georgia Bulldogs are mainly intact as a squad, the Florida State Seminoles are essentially playing with a new roster with the depth chart having so few starters from the season.
Due to this, the Seminoles are 21-point underdogs in their final game. With a 13-0 season behind them, it's likely that Florida State will pick up its first loss of 2023 as the team has a plethora of players who have entered the transfer portal or declared for the NFL Draft.
For Brock Glenn, he's got the chance to be the starter after extended time preparing as QB1. With Jordan Travis' injury and Tate Rodemaker's transfer, Glenn gets to start his second game of the season as a true freshman.
Here is how the College GameDay crew picked the Orange Bowl to go.
Desmond Howard: Georgia
Pat McAfee: Georgia
Lee Corso: Georgia
Kirk Herbstreit: Georgia
Now, it's no surprise the entire crew took Georgia. One of the teams is bringing most of their starters, and the other is bringing much, much less. For the Seminoles, the focus will flip toward the courtroom after the game.
With Florida State looking to depart from the ACC, they've got some legal loopholes to jump through to avoid any egregious exit fees. With that, this game becomes much less important to the Seminoles, as they're shorthanded and have their sights set on finding a new conference.
Now, should they find a way to win, then Florida State might be rooting for Washington and Michigan losses so they could claim a National Championship, should they choose to.
