Colorado's running back room is now stocked full of transfer talents, along with a Top 300 incoming freshman recruit. With the addition of Jackson State star Sy’veon Wilkerson, the Buffs will not only have one of the best units in the Pac-12, but possibly the nation.

The 5-foot-9, 210-pound Wilkerson rushed for 1,152 yards and nine touchdowns last season at JSU. He earned first-team all-SWAC honors for the Tigers and earned his stripes as a physical back. He's reuniting with Coach Prime and looks to contribute along with Kentucky's Kavosiey Smoke, Houston's Alton McCaskill, and Dylan Edwards.

Uncle Neely from Thee Pregame Show caught up with Wilkerson this week at CU's Champions Center. It's only fitting the video starts out with the former Tigers back gazing at a picture of CU great Byron "Whizzer" White.

"I don't run away from competition," Wilkerson told Neely. "I think it's good for all of us to be able to grow and be better players."

Neely compared the running back situation at CU to the NFL with a committee-style approach. Not that far off, considering the four on the roster are hungry for opportunities, and everyone excluding Edwards has started at their former respective schools.

"I think everybody in the room brings something different to the table," said Wilkerson. I think that's the good thing. Our offense is very fast, so you're going to be able to send people in and out and then put the right person in the right personnel in to run a certain place."

Colorado gets a much-needed boost out of the backfield after averaging 108.3 yards per game last season. The duo of Wilkerson and McCaskill combined for 25 touchdowns last year, which is more than double the total CU's rushers put up.
