New Mock Draft has Nate Wiggins going in round one

Clemson's lead cover man could hear his name called early in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Clemson football will once again see a ton of its talent come off the board in the upcoming NFL Draft (April 25-27, 2024) in Detroit, but will any of them go in the first round?

Last year, the Tigers saw two of their defenders go with back-to-back picks in round one, Myles Murphy to the Bengals and Bryan Bresee to the Saints. While guys like Jeremiah Trotter Jr. and Ruke Orhorhoro are sure-fire high picks, their positions don't lend to first-round selection. There is one player however whose level of play and positional value could see him go on day one.

Nate Wiggins

Nate Wiggins earned All-ACC honors in 2023.

According to Matt Miller's new mock draft for ESPN, Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins could be one of the first DBs off the board. Miller has Wiggins going to the Minnesota Vikings at 22.

Wiggins came to Clemson as a four-star prospect out of Westlake in Atlanta back in the 2021 class. During his time as a Tiger, the 6-foot-2 corner has developed into one of the best covermen in college football. Over three seasons, he broke up 24 passes, intercepting three and taking two back for touchdowns, culminating with an All-ACC selection this year.

Clemson is still waiting for the Draft decisions from some of their other juniors, namely Will Shipley and Phil Mafah, but they do know they'll be without Wiggins and Trotter Jr. in their TaxSlayer Gator Bowl matchup with Kentucky on December 29th (Noon - ESPN).
