BYU Baseball Wins Series 2-1 Against Texas

On Saturday, BYU baseball beat Texas 7-5 to take the 2-1 series win over the Longhorns. The Cougars were carried by catcher Collin Reuter who went 3/4 with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs. Right fielder Luke Anderson and shortstop Chipper Beck also had one RBI each. The Cougars got out to an early 6-1 lead, then held on the rest of the way to secure the win.

Saturday's win was very similar to Thursday's win over Texas. In that game, another 7-5 BYU win, the Cougars got out to a 6-0 lead and held on in the final winnings to beat the Longhorns. Closer Stone Cushing came in to pitch in the bottom of the ninth and used two strikeouts to close out the game.

In Friday's contest, BYU came up just short in a 3-4 loss.

The series win over Texas is just the second series win in conference play. Earlier this year, BYU beat Houston 2-1 for their first series win in Big 12 play. The Cougars were on the wrong side of three earlier series against West Virginia, Texas Tech, and Kansas.
