Crimson Tide NFL Rundown: The Seattle Seahawks
Many people in the national media wrote off the Seattle Seahawks after they traded away former Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson last year. Several early mock drafts had them projected to have one of the first selections, and maybe have a chance at one of Alabama's top players, quarterback Bryce Young or edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. Somebody must have forgotten to tell new Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith the script, because he had a Pro Bowl season, with 4,282 passing yards and 30 touchdowns, en route to leading the Seattle to the playoffs, its first in the post-Russell Wilson era.
Smith had a solid crew around him to help. Both DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett had over 1,000-yard seasons. Metcalf had six touchdowns while Lockett notched nine. Additionally, Kenneth Walker III had 1,050 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. Safe to say, the Seahawks had a highly efficient offense in 2022. They might get even better after selecting Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Defensively, the Seahawks were solid as well. Two linebackers, Jordyn Brooks and Cody Barton, had over 100 tackles (161 and 136 respectively). Meanwhile, Uchenna Nwosu and Darrell Taylor both had 9.5 sacks. Nwosu also topped the team with 12 tackles for loss. Riq Woolen, a 2022 fifth-round selection, led the Seahawks in both passes broken up and interceptions (sixteen and six). The Seattle defense did all this without All-Pro safety Jamal Adams in the lineup, who suffered a torn quad muscle in Week 1.

#90 Jarran Reed, DT
Reed spent the 2022 season with the Green Bay Packers, where he started 14 games, but played in all 17. He had 52 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, five tackles for loss, and 14 quarterback hits.
This is not Reed's first stint with the Seahawks. He was a second-round pick by the team in 2016, and spent five seasons in Seattle before signing with the Chiefs in 2021. He then moved on to the Packers last year.
During his time in college, Reed started two years in Nick Saban's defense, where he totaled 111 total tackles, two sacks, and was part of a national championship win in 2015.
Reed is being immediately injected back into the starting lineup and should be a forceful presence in the run game while creating pressure from the interior pass rush. He signed just a one-year deal, so he's also playing for his next contract.
