Bama in the NFL: Former Bama Stars Take on Divisional Round

Take a look at which former Crimson Tide greats will be lining up in the NFL's Divisional Round of the playoffs this weekend.

Wild-card Weekend is in the rearview mirror as the NFL Divisional Round kicks off this weekend, featuring nine former Alabama players suiting up for five different teams.

The Crimson Tide once again led the league in alumni on active rosters with 57 at the beginning of the season, many of which were top performers for their teams. It had more than 70 players active, an NFL record. 

Take a look at where some of those players will be playing in the divisional round. 

Saturday's Game

Houston Texans at Baltimore Ravens 3:30 p.m. ET, NBC

The first matchup of the weekend will feature the most former Crimson Tide stars of any game this round as five players who once laced it up in Tuscaloosa will be on the field, hoping to help their team advance to the AFC championship game. 

For the Texans, linebackers Will Anderson, Jr., Christian Harris and Henry To'o To'o have all been contributors on one of the the league's most surprising defensive units. In the secondary is 14-year NFL veteran Kareem Jackson, who is in his second stint with Houston after being claimed on waivers in December.

Wrapping up the former Alabama names on the roster for the Texans is wide receiver John Metchie III. Metchie battled cancer in his rookie season in 2022, but returned to play in 2023 and hauled in 16 receptions for just under 200 yards. 

The wideouts best game of the season, and career, came in the wild card round against the Browns when the Ontario, Canada native caught three passes for 44 yards. 

Green Bay Packers at San Francisco 49ers, 7 p.m., Fox 

There are no former Crimson Tide players on either roster. 

Sunday's Game 

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions 2:00 p.m., NBC

While Tampa Bay does not feature any former Crimson Tide greats, Detroit heavily features three former teammates. 

Running back Jahmyr Gibbs, wideout Jameson Williams and safety Brian Branch have all been key pieces of the Lions playoff run up to this point.

Gibbs and Williams are both electrifying pieces of a Detroit offense that took the NFL by storm this season, and Branch has quietly made himself one of the top young defenders in the NFL. 

Kansas City Chiefs at Buffalo Bills, 5:30 p.m., CBS

There are no former Crimson Tide players on either roster.
