Miami Hosts Top 2026 Defensive Back Who's Committed To Syracuse
Talented defensive back visited Miami
The University of Miami is recruiting with no stones being untouched in Florida.
This includes four-star Syracuse commit Demetres Samuel, Jr. The Plantation (Fla.) Heritage standout recently received an offer from Miami's defensive back coach Chevis Jackson. Samuel spoke with us about his commitment to Syracuse, when he may visit the Hurricanes, and when he makes a final decision in his recruitment.
"I kind of had a feeling an offer was coming my way, but was not sure when it was going to happen for sure."
Miami's defensive back coach is looking to build a relationship with the Sunshine stud safety.
"Coach Jackson and he just wants to build a relationship with me and my coach he said."
Samuel Jr. knows when he'll visit Miami and it’s coming very soon.
"I will be at Miami this Thursday, on April 11," said Samuel Jr.
Miami will have a shot to blow him away, but he is committed to Syracuse and he has a visit planned there as well.
"I'll be back at Syracuse on April 20. Then I will visit Louisville and Georgia in the summer."
With all these visits elsewhere than Syracuse how strong is that commitment?
"My commitment to Syracuse is pretty strong but I still will be visiting other schools," said Samuel Jr.
While the Heritage prospect is in the class of 2026, he has thought his recruitment through like a senior.
"Yes sir, I will be taking my official visits. I'm not sure yet who will get an official visit, but Miami is most likely receiving one."
He also knows when he will make a final decision for his recruitment.
"Signing day of my senior year, I will make a final decision then," said Samuel Jr.
Miami has a chance to flip an ACC foe commitment, but it won't be easy as other ACC and SEC schools are showing interest in the Cuse commit. Coach Jackson does have Samuel’s attention and the Canes are definitely in the race.
