Could Miami Flip UCF Commitment?
Miami makes offer to South Florida recruit
The University of Miami coaching staff is working hard in the home state of Florida to keep some of the talent rich prospects from leaving the Sunshine State.
The Miami coaching staff recently extended an offer to On3’s four-star recruit Tony Williams. The Palm Beach (Fla.) Central standout is currently committed to UCF but his recruitment is far from over.
He also holds offers from SEC, Big 10, and ACC college football programs. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Sunshine State prospect took the time to interview with regards to Miami and his overall recruiting process.
"Yes sir. I spoke with linebacker coach Derek Nicholson when he offered me a scholarship at The U. He told me he wanted me to come to campus as soon as possible to visit."
When will that visit occur?
"I'm going to the Rivals Camp Series on April 7th which is in Miami on a Sunday. He said it was okay to visit then, but I had seen the practice schedule with it not having a practice on the 7th, so I was going to come on the 6th while there's a practice," said Williams.
With Williams possessing a long and lanky frame, he is a good long-term fit for the hybrid safety role that is so difficult to fill for Miami or any other college football team. He's an intriguing recruit.
Miami is still fresh on his mind that visit will be crucial for the Hurricanes as the four-star will have one other visit to an SEC school in April.
"I'm planning to visit South Carolina on April 20th and that is pretty much it for visits so far. "
Williams also let it be known who he is hearing the most currently in his recruitment.
"Well South Carolina was like come see us! So, I would say them even though I haven't been offered a scholarship yet, but I would also say SMU and Miami they all sounded very interested in talking to me."
Williams’ recruitment could still go several directions.
"Yes sir! I'm just letting everything play out and taking my time throughout the recruitment process."
The Miami coaching staff appears to making a strong impression on Williams right now. Having him visit Miami in the very near future bodes well for the Hurricanes.
