CFL's Touchdown Series Heads to Victoria for BC-Ottawa Game

The BC Lions, CFL, and city of Victoria announced the Touchdown Series is heading to the Pacific Time Zone for the first time.

Since the CFL launched the Touchdown Series, it has all taken place on the East Coast with much success. They are changing things up for the 2024 season and moving the game west for the sixth installment.

The BC Lions, CFL and the city of Victoria made the announcement Wednesday morning at the Crystal Garden in Victoria.

The BC Lions will play host to the Ottawa Redblacks in the 2024 Touchdown Series on Aug. 31.

“This is a special day for Canadian football,” CFL Commissioner Randy Ambrosie said. “Our great game is for all Canadians – it brings us together, and it unites us as a country. The Touchdown Series is about opening our game to new fans and new communities and showing them that the CFL is their league, too.

“From the cheers of the crowd and the impact in the community to the fun, fast, and entertaining action on the field – we can’t wait to deliver the full CFL experience to everyone in Victoria!”

The 2024 edition of the Touchdown Series features the BC Lions and Ottawa Redblacks on Aug. 31 in association with the OK Tire Labour Day Weekend. The teams will play at Royal Athletic Park, which can seat 10,000 to 14,000 fans, including standing room.

Since the Touchdown Series started five years ago, the East Coast has seen great economic growth. The 2023 edition of the series generated $10 million in economic impact for businesses and communities around the area, according to reports.

The Canadian West Coast will be busy as Vancouver will be hosting the 111th Grey Cup at BC Place Stadium next November.
